The RIBA Venues Team hosted a 1930's inspired evening of entertainment, food and drink for over 250 industry last week at its spectacular Art Deco headquarters at 66 Portland Place.

Six o'clock hunger pangs were immediately satisfied by delicious eats from in house caterers Ampersand with a mouth-watering range of canapés including; 'Lobster thermidor spoon', 'Baby vegetable crudités, porcini soil, selection of dips', 'English asparagus, quail egg, vol au vent, celery salt' and 'Corn fed chicken lollipop, sweet corn puree'. Head Chef Leon Secretan had keen fans for his succulent British roast beef which he was personally carving to order.

Intriguing entertainment was brought in by Sternberg Clarke, who gave away £100 of iTunes vouchers for the best summer song set, and close up magic by Neb Magic kept guests on their toes throughout the night.

Petra Bones, Head of Venues at the RIBA said: "My wow of the night was people turning up in the middle of a thunder storm and still being raring to go on one of our guided tours. I admit it's an obvious thing to do, but with a landmark building such as ours, it's why people like coming along - especially with a glass of English bubbly in hand!"
