Table Talk is designed primarily for use by those of us working in the catering and hospitality trades. It is free to use but please observe the following common-sense rules. For the full legalese see also our Terms of Use.

1. You are legally responsible for your actions

You are legally responsible for what you do here.

By the law of the land, you are forbidden from (among other things):

  • Saying things about people which are not true or cannot be proved by you to be true (libel, defamation)
  • Uploading words, images or anything else which you are not entitled to upload (copyright)
  • Using threatening behaviour
  • Inciting hatred
  • Discriminatory behaviour (based on sex, race, religion, sexual orientation, disability etc)
  • Promoting terrorism
  • Conducting any other criminal activity

The content on this site is generated by the users of the site and we do not accept responsibility for any actions you take as a result of any material posted on it.

If we are faced with any action against us - legal or otherwise – as a result of your actions on the site then we reserve the right to pass on relevant information we may have about the culprit.

2. How to complain

If you are convinced that a forum post breaks the rules you should use the “Report Abuse” button (Under "More" - you need to be logged in to see this) to draw attention to it: please don’t post your objections on the actual thread.

We do not moderate these forums, so we can only respond to problems if we are informed of them in this way. We will endeavour to act on these reports as quickly as possible.

3. Mind your manners

Legal obligations aside, there are things that are just good manners and can not be allowed on the site :

False and/or defamatory posts. If you know it's a lie or untrue, then don't post it. Indeed, if you don’t know that it’s true, don’t post it.

  • Abusive, vulgar, hateful, threatening or harassing posts.  If you disagree with someone, that's fine. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and that's what makes for good debate. But do not make your response personal, insulting or abusive.
  • Users are entitled to set their own level of privacy. Do not post information about people on the which they may not want made public: name, address, pictures unless you are sure that they won't mind.

4. No adverts

We have provided this space free of charge for you to discuss, communicate and express yourself. In return, all we ask is that you do not use the site as a place to conduct business – please do not advertise goods or services.

5. How material you upload may be reused

Material that you upload remains yours but you grant us permission to reuse your content with due credit made to you.

6. Basic disciplinary procedure

To ensure that this site remains a pleasant environment for all users we will ban users who persistently or maliciously break the rules. We will generally issue warnings before implementing a suspension or a ban.

7. Updates to these rules

We will update these rules from time to time. It is your responsibility to check these rules from time to time.
