read the new style caterer this week, 29 oct - 4 nov and have to say found the new format a little dissapointing. Somewhat blocky and overcrowded. Maybe with time it will grow on me. I personally enjoy the restaurant reviews which always deliver a  honest opinion, however for the first time i found the review of  les deux salon a little too nice and with a personal response which i havent seen before.

Following the previous magazine with a special feature on the above it was a little surprising to see such a glowing review and 5/5 rating.

Maybe its that good, i will have to try it...

Zigzag, many thanks for your valuable feedback. We're conscious that readers are more time-pressed than ever before, so we're including more boxed-out panels to make it easier to extract the most important points from an article. I guess we'll need to make sure, going forward, that the pages don't become too cluttered as a result. As for the Review of the Reviews page, please do bear in mind that we're only reflecting the views of other publications. So, the review of Les Deux Salons you refer to was taken from Time Out magazine - and, as the review was glowing, the personal response from Will Smith was positive. If you check out our 5th November issue, you'll see that the personal comment (Benugo's Ben Warner) is in response to a less glowing review. Thanks again for taking the trouble to get in touch - it's very much appreciated.

Thanks for your post zigzag.

I can only echo what Mark said: the review of the reviews column is a round up of what the food critics from the major national titles have said in their reviews rather than a reflection of our own opinions. We try to include a variety of different types of reviews - some negative and some more positive as in the case of Les Deux Salons, which clearly impressed Time Out's Guy Dimond.

We've introduced the Restaurant Replies section to give operators the chance to hit back at reviewers and again we're trying to keep this varied both relating to positive and negative reviews.
