Hospitality Action is asking contract catering workers to get behind the charity event of the year, Hospitality Action Week.

The fun-filled fundraising week runs from 17th-23rd May and generates vital funding to care for hospitality workers past and present who have fallen on hard times.

This year, every individual contract caterer worker is being urged to raise a minimum of £5. Hospitality Action has set a modest target so that people feel able to meet the challenge. Five pounds doesn't sound a lot but imagine the difference it would make to the charity if everyone in the hospitality industry participated.

In 2009, Hospitality Action Week raised over £100,000 through an array of activities from themed lunches, football matches and doughnut eating competitions right through to a sponsored team meeting held at the top of Scaffell Pike.

The easiest way to raise £5 is by going online to enter the HA Big Prize Draw and you could bag yourself a trip to New York.

But don't limit to this - have fun with colleagues and customers.  Here are five fundraising ideas to get you started:

  • Back to the shop floor: ask employees to sponsor the boss to return to the shop floor for the day...and take on their least favourite tasks!
  • Football match: hold a five-a-side tournament with teams paying for entry. You could also run a sweepstake on the winner.
  • Limited edition Hospitality Action sandwich: produce a bespoke sandwich with proceeds from every sale going to the charity.
  • Delivery service: deliver lunches or elevenses from the canteen to customers' desks for a small fee.
  • Fun-day: arrange a family fun-day for your employees. It could involve games, stalls, a game of rounders, bouncy castles or a barbecue.

The possibilities are endless. Visit wwww.hospitalityaction.org.uk to register for your fundraising pack today.
