A friend of mine was badly injured during her stay at The Emirates Palace hotel 4 years ago. As a Hotelier, I am interested to see what other Hoteliers feel about the way this case is being handled. Pleas follow the link below, and share if you think it is a worthwhile cause. https://www.facebook.com/JusticeForNatalie

This is a very sad story. Can you explain how your friend's injury happened and how the hotel responded?

Many thanks

Janet

Hi Janet You can see the whole story on the Facebook link in my 1st post, but to cut it short, upon check in she opened the closet and bent forward to put her shoes inside. The panel covering the AV hatch came loose and fell on her head, knocking her unconscious. The Duty Manager took her by Hotel limo to hospital. She now has a severe brain injury as the panel weighed 2.2kg and dropped 11ft on to her head. She now has some sort of epilepsy, causing her to be in and out of hospital. In the 4 years she managed to get married to her fiancé of the time, although the wedding was delayed 3 times as a result of her illness. The hotel have been in court with her for the past 4 years, and have paid nothing up to now. I believe they keep on appealing which is why it is taking so long. She can't get health insurance as no one will take on this type of pre-existing condition. The final hearing is on August 9th. Natalie is again in hospital in a forced coma so that the seizures are kept to a minimum. Since the appeal has started on social media, I believe the hotel has responded ( after deleting lots of the initial postings on their FB), but just to say their best wishes are with Natalie. Very sad story. Please read & like the Facebook link to learn more about this on going tragedy. Thanks Nathalie

Hi Nathalie

Is there any update on your friend's condition?

Regards

The Daily Mail has just covered her story:

"They call this a 'normal life': Abu Dhabi hotel bosses deny claim of brain-damaged British bride who faces a lifetime of round-the-clock care after freak accident"
