Regent Inns' white knight signs licence for Jongleurs comedy clubs

The newly-formed company that rescued 60 former Regent Inns sites from administration last week has signed a licensing agreement allowing it continue running 10 comedy clubs under the Jongleurs brand.

Regent Inns, which operated sites running under the Walkabout, Old Orleans and Jongleurs brands, went into administration on 20 October.

A new company, Intertain, managed by Regent Inns' former directors John Leslie and Mike Foster and by Mike Dowell, who joined from Pitcher & Piano, immediately acquired 60 sites from the administrator, including the 10 Jongleurs venues.

Intertain today announced it has signed a brand licensing agreement with Jongleurs Comedy Limited to continue to run these 10 venues as Jongleurs Comedy Clubs until 2 January 2010.

It said a further announcement on the long-term plans for the comedy venues “will be made shortly”.
