THE Scottish Tourist Board (STB) has launched a campaign to persuade Scots to take holidays in their own country.
In July, the STB reported that Scottish hotels were being forced to cuts rates because Scottish people were choosing to go on holiday in other countries and, as a result, hotels were losing business (Caterer, 8 July, page 16).
The STB's 1999 Autumn Gold campaign includes special offers on accommodation, transport and visitor attractions.
Tom Buncle, chief executive of the STB, said: "Clearly, many Scots are taking their main holiday overseas. It's time to come home."
