Tracey Lander, regional director of marketing for the UK and Scandinavia at Bass Hotels and Resorts, has died of cancer aged 41.

Lander had worked in the hotel and catering industry for more than 26 years, since she was 15 years old.

She joined Bass's Inter-Continental division in 1993 as director of marketing for the Forum Hotel in London, before taking on responsibility for Inter-Continental's UK and Benelux region.

In 1998 she moved to London's Hotel Inter-Continental, where she became regional director of marketing for the UK and Scandinavia.

She was responsible for marketing six hotels in Holland, Belgium and England.

Adrian Simpson, Bass's European vice-president of marketing, said: "Tracey was a very much loved and highly respected member of the team. I will remember her as a true professional, who always went the extra mile."

Before joining Inter-Continental, Lander also worked as deputy general manager at the Grafton hotel in London and later as director of sales at the Edwardian International hotel at Heathrow.
