Michelin-starred chef Andrew Pern was awarded the title of Best Chef at the inaugural Northern Hospitality Awards held on Monday night at the Lowry hotel in Manchester.
Judges rewarded Pern for his "vision, drive, determination" at his gastropub the Star Inn at Harome in North Yorkshire.
“A true local talent whose successful projects have evolved into a fantastic package,” they said.
Anthony's in Leeds took the coveted Best Restaurant award. Judges described the restaurant as serving “great food with a cutting edge”.
It was recognised for its consistent achievements and for being an innovative and growing business.
Nigel Haworth, of Northcote Manor in Langho, in Blackburn, was rewarded for his service to Northern hospitality and given the inaugural event’s Lifetime Achievement award.
“A true ambassador for the industry, all of Nigel’s success and hard-won reputation has been utilised to promote an inspirational vision of Northern Hospitality,” said the judges.
Best Hotel went to Holbeck Ghyll Country House Hotel in Windermere, Cumbria. Best Bar was awarded to Socio Rehab in Manchester, and Best Pub to the Packhorse, in Hayfield, Derbyshire.
Judges voted the Soup Kitchen in Manchester as Best Newcomer and Best Manager went to Simon Rhatigan at the Feversham Arms, Helmsley, North Yorkshire.
