Grand venue

A restaurant, bar, coffee house and delicatessen housed in a building called Grand Central opens in Shoreditch, east London next Thursday (28 June). The 2,000sq ft venue can accommodate up to 300. New York deli-style food will be served throughout the day.

No 1 Pimlico's

A 125-seat restaurant called No 1 Pimlico's opened in Stratford-upon-Avon last week (14 June). It serves "modern European cuisine" and looks on to a 6,000sq ft garden. Owners George and Jason Hendry are behind the Limelight club in London.

Ma Potter's

Ma Potter's was the latest restaurant to open at the Meadowhall shopping centre, five miles from the centre of Sheffield last week (14 June). Serving what it describes as "sizzling chargrilled specialities", the 140-seat restaurant is part of a chain with branches in London, Reading, Birmingham, and Manchester.

Quality for York

Choice Hotels opens the Quality hotel in York on 1 July. The newly built 100-bedroom boutique-style hotel includes a restaurant offering Mediterranean-style food and meeting rooms with videoconferencing.

Chapelbank reopens

Chapelbank House restaurant with rooms, in Forfar, Angus, re-opened last Friday (15 June). The new owners are Adrian and Catherine Gunn. The 30-seat restaurant serves a Scottish and French menu cooked by Adrian Gunn, who was previously chef at the Caledonian hotel, Edinburgh and the Swallow hotel, Dundee.
