Accor opens 266 new hotels and records 2.7% revenue growth in 2012

French hotel group Accor has reported a 2.7% growth in annual revenue, on a like-for-like basis, following the publication of its fourth-quarter results.

Income of €5,649m (£4,733m) for 2012 reflected the opening of 266 new hotels (38,085 rooms) and an improvement in average room rate in every segment.

The group now has more than 4,4000 hotels (450,000 rooms) worldwide, with 48% of the new properties opening in the Asia-Pacific region, 28% in Europe, 14% in Latin America and 10% in Africa/Middle East. More than half of the hotels (57%) are operated under management or franchise contracts.

Occupancy rate across the upscale and midscale hotels in the UK hotels (5,724 rooms) was 78.4% for 2012 (77.6% in the fourth quarter), while average room rate stood at £84 (£85) and revenue per available room (revpar) at £66 (£66).

In the economy sector, UK occupancy across the year was recorded at 77.6% (75.9% in the final quarter), average room rate: £48 (£49) and revpar: £37 (£37).

Accor currently has 188 hotels in the UK.
