Jamie Oliver says food education in Britain is 'unforgivably bad'

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has slammed food and sport education in Britain, saying it has been done "unforgivably badly".

His comments came during an Audience With Jamie Oliver, in which the TV chef and campaigner said that the Olympic Games offer Britain the chance to become a healthier country, reported the Independent.

But he added that things will need to change in order to create a health-related Olympic legacy.

"Of course it's an opportunity. It's an opportunity for lots of things," he said. "I think, you know, if you're looking at food at school, and food education at school and sport at school, we've done it really badly, unforgivably badly.

"We're tussling with Germany in being the most unhealthy country in Europe."

Oliver told the assembled international media that he would love to spend time in Mexico and would consider going to Brazil to cook during the 2016 Games, but added that foreign trips are increasingly difficult due to his growing family.
