La Becasse dries out after serious flooding

Fine dining restaurant La Becasse in Ludlow has encountered serious flooding in its cellar following a night of heavy rain.

Head chef Will Holland (pictured) took to social networking site Twitter to say that it took "six chefs and a lot of buckets" to rid the cellar of flood water and "save the restaurant".

La Becasse is part of 10 in 8 Fine Dining Group, headed by chief executive Alan Murchison. It also counts Angelique and Michelin-starred Paris House and L'Ortolan in its portfolio.

Former Acorn award winner Holland told Caterer and Hotelkeeper: "It was the heaviest rain storm I have ever witnessed.

"Thanks to all my chefs for going above and beyond the call of duty and bailing the water from the wine cellar. We all managed to keep the water level at bay and well away from the restaurant."
