Institute of Hospitality chief executive Philippe Rossiter has announced plans to retire from full-time employment at the end of the year.

Rossiter, who has held the position for nearly 10 years, said his time with the institute had been immensely rewarding.

"I have had the pleasure of working with some wonderful people. The institute has come through some major changes in this period, and the benefits of these are now being demonstrated in a number of areas.

"The industry's professional body is going from strength to strength, and it is appropriate now to pass on the baton to someone new who will guide it through the next chapter in its history."

The institute's executive council has begun the process of recruiting Rossiter's successor.
