Quorn and KK Fine Foods create veggie ready meals for pubs and hotels

Quorn Foods has teamed up with  KK Fine Foods to create a new range of vegetarian ready meals for the pub and hotel market which they claim represent a twist on traditional favourites.

Quorn is a meat substitute made from mycoprotein, an edible fungi, that is a trademark of Marlow Foods.

The launch line includes Qhorn tikka masala, Quorn Szechuan pepperpot (which has already been listed by Marston’s Inns & Taverns), Quorn cottage pie with creamy leek mash, Quorn tagine and Sri Lankan Quorn curry, with more recipes to follow.

“We’ve not just re-created a cottage pie using Quorn rather than regular protein; we’ve looked closely at the recipe to ensure we’re really developing some strong flavours that will enhance the experience for the customer,” said Tony Davison, commercial manager for foodservice at Quorn Foods.

He added that KK Fine Foods ‘know and understand the tastes and flavours needed to produce great-tasting authentic vegetarian dishes’

“We believe these dishes will enable operators to offer a wider choice to their customers without having to have a highly-skilled team in the kitchen,” commented Samir Edwards, commercial director at KK Fine Foods.
