The Treacle Mine hotel in Tadley, Hampshire, has changed hands after 15 years with the same family.

The freehouse, which is six miles north of Basingstoke, has a prime edge-of-village location facing a new sports facility, with residential developments earmarked for land opposite the pub.

Along with seven en-suite bedrooms, the property offers a main bar, a snug bar, a 50-seat restaurant, a pool area and a pub garden.

There is also two-bedroom accommodation for the new owner, local first-time pub buyer Amanda Taylor.

The Winchester office of Christie + Co sold the freehold off a guide price of  £600,000.
