Experience will tell

The 16th-century Dalston Hall hotel near Carlisle, in Cumbria, has been sold to experienced hoteliers Jan and Karen Mayer for substantially more than its £800,000 asking price.

The three-star country house hotel has 12 bedrooms and a hall with space for 100 guests, and is set in four acres of walled gardens.

Sackville to be redone

The 45-bedroom Sackville hotel in Hove, West Sussex, has been sold for more than £1.25m. The new owner, Welstead Properties, plans to refurbish the hotel. Graves Jenkins Residential was the agent.

Pint &Post at a premium

The Pint & Post tearoom and bar, in St Giles on the Heath, Devon, has been sold to John and Linda Langford for "considerably in excess" of its £205,000 asking price.

The property also comprises a post office and store.

Aln right on the night

The Red Lion pub in Alnmouth, Northumberland, has been sold for close to £450,000.

The pub, with a waterside location beside the estuary of the River Aln, trades as a freehouse with a 30-seat restaurant and four bedrooms.

Kahn-do attitude

Tony Kahn, owner of the Old Trafford hotel, close to Manchester United's football ground, has bought the nine-bedroom Pymgate Lodge hotel near Cheadle in Cheshire for close to £385,000.
