Pasta from the freezer

Thursday 7th August 2003 12:26

A new range of individually quick-frozen pastas and sauces has been developed by Knorr. There are three pastas: egg tagliatelle, bucatini (a long pasta with a hole running through it) and tortiglione; and four sauces: porcini, tomato and basil, four cheeses, and amatriciana (a tomato-based sauce with pecorino cheese and smoked bacon).

The sauces come in 20g pellets (about seven to a portion) which can be microwaved, sauté                                                                                                                  d, or double-wrapped in clingfilm to be steamed in a combi-oven with the pasta. The pasta is formulated not to overcook, and both sauces and pastas can be ready in one-and-a-half minutes.

PRICES: pastas, from £13.28 for tortiglione (6 x 800g) to £14.45 for tagliatelle (6 x 600g); sauces, from £14.06 for tomato and basil (6 x 800g) to £26.72 for porcini (6 x 800g)
