There will be a sharp rise in the number of hotel and restaurant job vacancies over the next three months, according to a survey just published.
According to the research, carried out for Manpower recruitment agency, 30% of hotel and restaurant employers plan to take on more staff during the next three months.
This represents a huge jump compared with the first quarter of the year, when 14% said they would be cutting staff.
Iain Herbertson, managing director of Manpower, said: "Business seems to have bounced back from last quarter's downturn, when the impact of the US recession and 11 September hit employment prospects hard. We believe there is reason to be cautiously optimistic."
The survey asked 2,000 UK companies in 20 industry sectors whether they expected an increase, decrease, or no change in their staffing levels in the three months to the end of June.
More than 100 hospitality employers participated.
