Andrew Price has taken up the position of director of human resources for Forte's Exclusive Hotels of the World division.

Mr Price has spent the past five years as vice-president of human resources, Pacific Asia region, for Inter-Continental Hotels with the added responsibility of worldwide corporate training.

He also spent four years with Grand Metropolitan Hotels, latterly as personnel director for the County division.

Michael Naylor-Leyland has taken up the position of general manager of Monte's, the new London club opening in Sloane Street in August.

Mr Naylor-Leyland has spent the past four years as executive assistant manager at the five-star Lanesborough hotel on London's Hyde Park Corner.

The restaurant manager at Monte's will be Denis Courtiade, who previously held a similar position at Louis XV in Monaco.

Jennifer Gallagher, general manager of the Malmaison hotel in Glasgow, has been appointed general manager of the Edinburgh Malmaison.

Ms Gallagher is replacing Gregor Mathieson, who has joined Ken McCulloch at McCulloch Hotel Management (MHM), to work with him on his design consultancy. MHM manages both of the Malmaison hotels.

Sean Johns has taken up the position of head chef at 33, a new 75-seat restaurant in St James's Street, London. The restaurant is due to open at the end of July with an average spend of £35 per head.

Mr Johns, previously head chef at London's Grosvenor House, is joined by front of house manager Ciro Zaino, formerly restaurant manager at London's Halcyon Hotel.

Chris Sheppardson, associate director at recruitment specialist Portfolio, has been promoted to the company's board.

Mr Sheppardson joined Portfolio as a consultant in 1989 and was promoted to associate director less than a year ago.

John Fryer, a retired chief manager for the Royal Bank of Scotland, has been appointed a non-executive director of Paramount, the Chester-based pub company.

The publicly quoted company, founded in 1988, operates almost 300 pubs in North Wales and the North-west of England.

Allan Agerholm has been appointed general manager at the New Connaught Rooms in London's Covent Garden, which is owned by Friendly Hotels.

Mr Agerholm previously held the position of food and beverage manager at the Mount Royal hotel, London. Prior to this, he specialised in banqueting, with posts in Denmark and England.

JANE RILEY to head chef of Ettington Chase conference centre, opening in Stratford-upon-Avon this September, from a similar position at Sedgebrook Hall, Chapel Brampton, Northamptonshire.

BILL KERR, general manager of Malin Court Hotel, Turnberry, Ayrshire, has been appointed to the Investors in People Scotland recognition panel.

CARL WEST to business development manager at Norwich Sport Village & Hotel, Norfolk, from sport and fitness manager.

TIM MAYLED, former general manager of the country club at the Lygon Arms, Broadway, has set up a leisure facilities consultancy based in Cheltenham.
