Milmanda price reduced
FEW wine-makers produce better restaurant wine than Torres. The Catalan wine producer is rare in making a range of wines that cover everything from house wine to single vineyard varietals, to say nothing of an outstanding range of brandies.
Milmanda is the name of the vineyard where Chardonnay grapes for Torres' top white wine are grown. The news is that the prize-winning 1991 Milmanda has now been reduced in price from £75 to £58 per six-bottle case.
The wine, with its intense fruit and concentration of citrus flavours and benign acidity, is more of a challenge to Burgundy Chardonnays than other Chardonnays.
So it seemed appropriate to Torres to follow suit after last year's drop in white Burgundy prices by as much in some cases as 40%. Torres wines are distributed in England and Wales by the Premium Agency Partnership (081-749 3661).
