SHEFFIELD's Bourbon Street catering and leisure development last week gained the highest-ever number of full on-licences granted in one application in the UK.
Some 14 separate licences were granted for the 110,000sq ft site which will see the creation of 13 themed bars, restaurants, cafés and music venues.
Operators to have signed upalready include McKinley's Station and Hillbilly Heaven restaurants, pub operator JD Wetherspoon and entertainment venues Ronnie Scott's and the Comedy Store.
The £15m development is expected to be the UK's largest single licensed area when it opens in 1995 next to the city's Meadowhall shopping centre.
Site clearance and earthworks have already begun on the site, and construction is due to start shortly.
Completion of the development is scheduled for August 1995, with opening to coincide with Meadowhall's fifth anniversary the following month.
