Michelin’s 2007 guide for Great Britain and Ireland has promoted two restaurants to the coveted two-Michelin-star status.

Both Petrus in Belgravia, London, part of the Gordon Ramsay stable, and the Vineyard at Stockcross, Newbury now hold two Michelin stars, bringing the total two-star restaurants in the guide to 13.

Petrus chef patron Marcus Wareing has been waiting since 2000 to gain an extra star. The Vineyard has also held one star since 2000, but was tipped to win another star by last year’s Michelin Guide. Its executive chef John Campbell joined the restaurant in 2002.

There were no new three-Michelin-star restaurants in the guide, but another 13 restaurants were awarded their first Michelin star.

In all the 2007 Michelin guide has 122 establishments with stars. There are also more Rising Stars this year with eight establishments tipped as one star restaurants of the future and one tipped for two stars.

There were 12 restaurants that lost a Michelin star in the new guide.
