SUTCLIFFE Catering is to provide the public restaurant facilities at the Savacentre hypermarket in Merton, south-west London.

Sutcliffe will operate its Courtneys Café concept at the Sainsbury-owned store. The restaurant is due to open next week.

The contract is the 17th for Sutcliffe's in-store catering division.

Savacentre food and marketing director Allan Webb told Caterer the division had decided to contract out its public catering in order to concentrate on its core retail operation.

The policy is in contrastto that in J Sainsbury outlets, where the company is upgrading its own in-house public catering operation. Mostoutlets are to be rebranded as Shopper's Restaurants, while smaller stores will have coffee bars.
