David Taylor named general manager of Marriott's new Edition hotel

by Janet Harmer , Tuesday 13th March 2012 11:33

David Taylor, currently general manager of the Hoxton hotel, has been appointed general manager of Edition, the new brand being developed by Marriott International together with hotel design icon Ian Schrager.

The hotel, which will have around 200 bedrooms when it opens early in 2013, is being developed within the former Berners hotel in London.

Taylor, who is the chairman of the St Julian Scholars - the alumini association for graduates of the Master Innholders scholarship programme - has been general manager of the Hoxton hotel since its launch five-and-a-half years ago.

The opening of the Edition in London will mark the second hotel in the brand alongside one in Istanbul. The birth of the Edition brand got off to a rocky start when the original Edition, which opened in Hawaii in 2010, was rebranded following a disagreement between Marriott and the owners of the property.
