IN JULY this year Caterer & Hotelkeeper will again present its annual awards recognising all that is best in the hospitality industry.
Known affectionately as the Cateys, the awards are now in their 11th year. Over time they have grown in stature and are now recognised as the top accolades the industry has to offer.
But their purpose still remains to identify and reward the best and most innovative in the catering industry.
Starting this week, Caterer begins its search for those at the pinnacle of the profession. Each week for the next three months we will run articles launching the 13 different awards. Attached to each article will be a nomination form which, together with as much detailed information about your nominee as possible, and a neatly presented supporting statement of not more than 200 words, should be sent in by the closing date given below.
For the winners, the greatest honour is that they are judged by their peers, people who understand the business and what it takes to succeed. All winners are chosen for outstanding contributions to their profession, for the standards they set, and for the role they have played in encouraging others to strive for those standards. They are also champions of the industry's causes, and include those who work tirelessly for the good of the profession.
So if you know of anyone in the industry who is striving for and achieving the highest standards of operation, and who could be held up as an example to others, then nominate them for the award relevant to their sector.
The Catey Awards are open to all - restaurateurs, housekeepers, chefs or managers who work in any sector of the hospitality industry. They need not be high profile personalities, but they must be professionals contributing to the reputation of the catering industry.
Establishments are also recognised in the form of Hotel of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, along with successful group and independent marketing campaigns.
The Catey Awards are not a competition, there are no winners or losers, and those awarded are chosen by a panel which is expert in the area relevant to each award. They are your awards, and depend on your nominations and assistance. Get writing! o
