Michelin-starred restaurant group Hakkasan is to open two new sites in the City of London this year.
The group, which currently runs two Hakkasan outlets in London as well as Yauatcha and Sake No Hana, will open Japanese restaurant Chrysan in September, which will be followed by Chinese restaurant HKK in October.
A joint venture with three-Michelin-starred Japanese chef Yoshihiro Murata, chef-patron of Kikunoi in Kyoto, Chrysan will be the first of an international brand of restaurants.
Located within Broadgate West, the 100-seat restaurant will feature a chef's table for eight and a private dining room seating 12 as well as a bar called Nene for up to 30. Interiors will be developed by Yoshiaki Nakamura.
The kitchen will be headed up by Murata's protégé Daisuke Hayashi, who will offer regional Japanese specialities focused on UK ingredients with menus including a range of tasting menus and extensive à la carte options.
Murata, who also runs two-Michelin-starred restaurants in Kyoto and in Tokyo, said: "There are so many high-quality, superb ingredients in the UK, so what is the point of sending foodstuff from Japan over to London?"
Chrysan will be followed in October by HKK, which - located next door - will be inspired by Chinese banqueting tradition and offer a tasting menu of Chinese and Cantonese dished overseen by Hakkasan executive chef Tong Chee Hwee.
Owned by the Abu Dhabi investment company Tasameem, Hakkasan Group operates restaurants in the USA, the Middle East and India.
