Aduriz to reopen Mugaritz after blaze

Friday 11th June 2010 16:15

Spanish chef Andoni Luis Aduriz is to reopen his Mugaritz restaurant, four months after it was damaged by fire.

An electrical short circuit in the kitchen caused the blaze at the renowned Spanish eatery on 15 February.

Now, after intensive refurbishment works, it will reopen on 15 June.

The restaurant, outside San Sebastián, is reported to be holding a special private event for those who helped in its reconstruction, although no other special events are planned to mark the reopening.

Meanwhile, the accident has resulted in changes and modifications being made to the venue, particularly in the dining room and kitchen, where facilities have been rearranged to make it easier for the kitchen brigade to work.

And the Mugaritz team has also spent the months while the restaurant was closed to create new dishes. Two new menus will be available from 15 June.
