Online wine course tackles lack of specialist knowledge in hospitality

E-learning specialist MindLeaders ThirdForce has teamed up with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) to deliver a course aimed at tackling the perceived current lack of specialist understanding of wine among hospitality staff.

The Great Grapes of the World e-learning course, available through the AIMS learning management platform, will cover wine tasting, the different varieties of grape, and how to match wine with food. MindLeaders ThirdForce claims to be the largest e-learning supplier to the UK hospitality sector.

Although successful students will not need to sit a formal examination, they will receive a completion certificate from WSET’s London Wine & Spirit School

“WSET is the global leader in provision of accredited wines and spirits qualifications so MindLeader ThirdForces’s expertise in online delivery of training will open up a whole new world to use,” said Graham Cox, sales director at WSET.

“After a couple of years of decline due to the 2008-9 recession, UK candidate numbers grew by 13% last academic year – we are looking for double that this year and this initiative will be a key part of delivering that ambition.”
