Operators urged to beef up menus with burgers

Food service giants Heinz and 3663 have joined forces to launch a campaign that aims to help operators realise greater profits from their burger offerings.

The Britain's Favourite Burger 2012 campaign will include a competition to find the nation's best burger recipes, and will culminate in the inaugural British Burger Week, running from 18 June.

During the campaign, Heinz and 3663 will be offering operators a range of recipes and advice to enable them to increase the price point of the burgers they sell.

Catherine Hinchcliffe, head of customer marketing at 3663, said: "Burgers are a versatile staple of many outlets' menus that can deliver strong sales and profits."

She challenged food service operators to drive up margins on burgers by bringing more theatre to their presentation and being more creative with buns, sauces and accompaniments.

"It's about pimping your burgers and beefing up your profits," Hinchcliffe added.

The recipe competition will be judged by MasterChef 2011 winner Tim Anderson, who produced three concept burgers in the competition's final.
