Scottish & Newcastle buys 14 pubs from Tun Taverns and Progressive

Scottish & Newcastle Pub Enterprises (S&NPE) has acquired 14 pubs from Tun Taverns and the Progressive Pub Company for an undisclosed sum.

The 10 Tun Taverns pubs, based in Shropshire and the Welsh boarders, were purchased in an off-market deal.

The purchase of the four Progressive pubs was made through property agent Christie & Co and together the acquisitions take S&NPE estate to 2,150 sites.

Andrew Cannons, S&NPE acquisitions director, said: “It is an excellent geographic fit for us as we are under represented in the area.”

“The pubs are a strong set of well maintained businesses. Beer volumes are above average and 50% of the sites have a good food income with the remainder offering the opportunity to develop this area.”

He added that the company was looking for further small multiple freehold packages across the country and was interested in community and traditional pubs in suburban, village and canal-side locations.
