Luxury hotel group Mandarin Oriental said today it did not expect business to improve any time soon, after pre-tax profit fell by more than 20% in the 12 months to 31 December 2001.

Culture secretary Tessa Jowell has unveiled plans for a major new campaign to boost the number of visitors to Britain in the wake of foot-and-mouth and 11 September. The public-private initiative could cost up to £40m.

Insulated paper cups being shown by the US company Insulair (stand 236, Hotelympia 2002) are described as an entirely new category of disposable, providing more than double the insulation of standard paper hot cups but without using any foam material and with greater economy and convenience than double cups and cup sleeves.
